Motivate your New Year!

Instead of New Year Resolutions that you know you will not attain, why not call them New Year Motivations. Don’t assume to give up one thing on the 1st of January. Instead write a list of things you wish to achieve in 2023.

  • walk 30 minutes more each week
  • add an extra vegetable to your dinner dish
  • catch up with x, y & z
  • drink 2 more glasses of water per day

I myself do give myself a well-earned rest for at least one month, at the beginning of the year, from alcohol, sweets and fatty foods but instead of kidding myself and attempting to commence on the 1st, I instead do this on the 7th. The day after one of my best buddy’s birthday.

As I’ve said in the past, I am a to-do-list writer and I try to have these pretty much completed by the 1st week in January. These may include an exercise to-do-list, a travel to-do-list or a decluttering to-do-this list. But on the 1st of the New Year, wherever I may be, I try to take a few moments to be thankful for everything that has happened in the previous year. For, even though things may not have always worked out the way you intended, you have nonetheless learnt new lessons and believe it or not, you are exactly in the place the universe means you to be.

At the end of this, I will share one of my favourite body detoxing, thirst quenching drinks that is easy for you to prepare in your own home.

But let’s hear from a few of our Whitsunday and Mackay businesses owners……….

My skin tip for 2023 would be less is best, the more natural and dewy looking for the skin is my advice. Working with and enhancing your own natural beauty. Let your skin shine through using barely-there foundation. Loads of hydration is key to having a glossy appearance.

Take a little time to visualise the tendrils of energy that connect us to everyone and everything. You will then appreciate at a deeper level that the power of this connection endures after the interaction. Honouring our interconnection can change everything, from the quality of our relationships to the nourishment that we receive from our food.

Take a moment and envision in your mind’s eye your future intentions, goals and dreams as IF they had already been accomplished. If you think it, ink it! Writing it down puts your thoughts into action.

Pick recipes that can be made ahead of time with minimal effort needed on the day that can also be easily transported.   Some of my favourites include sticky chicken wings, antipasto platters, pizza pinwheels, home-made sausage rolls.

An inspirational message from CannonBee

Our tips for the new year find the balance. We pushed hard this year, we set intentions, dug deep and delivered. We have grown as a family unit and in the coming year we will be much the same kicking goals and loving what we do.

We’ve found that running a small family business can have a huge effect on your personal life and if you derail from the tipping point your fellow co-workers (your family) will have to pick up the pieces. This year we will continue to focus on putting self and family first, take time to stick to eating well, exercising, meditation and yoga, setting daily rituals.

Our biggest lesson from the closing year has been that if you are not at your best, if your ship is not seaworthy, you’ll likely be blown over in the first gust. Set intentions, dream big and deliver whilst living in loving balanced awareness.

More ideas from Michelle…………..

For something a little lighter perfect with a welcome drink  why not try Grape tomato, basil and bocconcini skewers.

  • Thread onto mini skewers a ball of mini bocconcini, basil leaf, grape or cherry tomato add an extra vegetable to your dinner dish
  • Make ahead onto tray and drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper and a good squeeze of lemon juice

(Can be made ahead of time, easy to eat, look festive and are a nice way to start a party)

If you are hosting be sure to get out everything you may need for the event and place on a seperate table including glasses, openers, utensils ect.  This ensures you get to sit and relax with friends and family rather than running around the kitchen.

Keep the theme going for your recovery breakfasts with all in one breakfast trays, make ahead breakfast muffins or fritters topped with avocado, crispy bacon and relish are all good options for when you need a little extra substance with less effort.

Commence the year with a commitment to profoundly appreciating our connections. From the most micro to the mega macro.

And finally Gabi’s refereshing drink to kickstart your New Year 2023!

This drink is absolutely refreshing and so good for your body on so many levels.

First, grab (approx). 1 litre pitcher or two.

  • Slice one lemon
  • Slice one lime
  • Slice half a cucumber
  • Add a good handful of mint leaves
  • Grate about one teaspoon of ginger (*tip below)
  • Place all in a pitcher and fill with water.
  • Allow it to diffuse overnight in the fridge
  • Drink the jug on the following day

(* tip) – tired of wasting ginger or turmeric in the fridge? If you don’t use it all, freeze it in a zip lock bag and then grate only what you need !

This is over and out for 2022. Wishing you all a safe New Year and see you all in 2023

With love,

Gabi xx
